Captain Zorikh's Guitar - Lost on Bklyn Subway!

We can call this story "If it could happen to anyone, why did it happen to me?"

There are 8 million stories in the naked city. Some of them intertwine and intersect. I am sending this message in the hope that in a week of entwining intersections, there can be just one more that can help me get my guitar back.

Captain Zorikh did it again. After an enjoyable evening at the Church of Pop website launch party (http://www.thechurchofpop.com , a very interesting event of multi-media art and entertainment), I headed home on the L train at about 12:15 with every intention of getting home and working on my Captain Marvel Culture website (http://www.captainmarvelculture.com). I had my Washburn acoustic guitar in its black Manny's Music gig bag on my back, but took it off so I could stand up and distribute a few flyers for the Big Apple Convention coming up on November 16-17-18 (http://www.bigapplecon.com). I sat back down when I was done and pulled out a copy of Avengers #191 to read for the rest of the brief journey. When I got to the Montrose Ave stop, I got up and walked out. I stopped at the deli outside the subway exit, and, after ordering a roast beef sandwich (lettuce, tomato and mustard, on a roll), I realized...I didn't have my guitar.

I rushed back down to the subway platform and told the token booth attendant (I'm sorry, I'll always call them that. Just nostalgic, I guess) who did yeoman service making phone calls to let the conductor know that I had left my guitar in the train and to see if he could find it. After an interminable wait, the word was...no guitar.

It's a very horrible feeling to realize one has lost his guitar. This guitar has been a significant part of my livelihood for the past few years. It is one of the few purchases I have made that has paid for itself, many times over. It has helped me get through rough emotional times and helped me communicate my joy with other people. I also ned it for a gig this coming weekend at Jeff Mach's Labyrinth http://www.wickedfaire.com/labyrinth/index.html
But also with the guitar was the case it was carried in, and in that case were extra strings, two harmonicas and a harmonica holder, a capo, extra picks, loose change from busking, and a dozen or so Watch This Space comics, various issues, for me to sell.

It was a dumb, simple, way of forgetting it. Such a significant loss for such a miniscule payoff.

So I guess three things could have happened. 1) a good Samaritan now has my guitar and is going through my extra strings, harmonica, loose change from busking (all the foreign coins and amusement park slugs that get tossed in) and dozen or so copies of my Watch This Space comics to find contact info to get the guitar back to its rightful owner or 2) they turned it in to a station attendant who will turn it in to the MTA lost & found or 3) they are keeping it for themselves, thus saving $350 on a very good-sounding guitar (despite some wear and tear). There is also the possibility that it was kidnapped by aliens, but that's not very likely and I don't accept it. If it had been taken for an "unattended package" then the train line would have been shut down and I would know exactly where it is.

So, over the course of this week I have met one person from my alma mater, the School of Visual Arts, one person who is an artist who regularly goes to the Big Apple Convention, and two people that I have known through William Shakespeare's Haunted House, and one who I first met in the SCA, then later when she was working at Belvedere Castle when WSHH was performing there, then again when she turned out to be a friend of a co-worker at Anchor Network, then again when she was waitressing at Veselka. With all these coincidences, I can only hope for just one more, the coincidence that one of you within the sound of my voice knows the person, or is the person, who picked up my guitar that I lest on the L train heading for Broadway Junction at Montrose Ave at about 12:20 in the morning of Saturday night/ Saturday morning September 23-23.

You can see a picture of the guitar at http://www.myspace.com/captainzorikhmusic

On Monday I will call the MTA's Lost & Found. When I have the results of that investigation, or if somehow my guitar gets back to me sooner, I will let you all know.

I won't send out a "please buy my products at http://www.captainzorikh.com/wts/catalogue.html or buy something from Amazon.com by clicking on the Amazon.com link on almost any page of my website http://www.captainzorikh.com and help me get a new guitar" message until after I have determined that the guitar is actually lost and gone forever.

Hey~ Re: 4th of July plans....

Can anyone send out some cool tips for checking out the 4th of July fireworks and such scene?
I'm flying in on the 4th, and am sort of unabashedly excited about catching some cool sights, fireworks and or getting some cool ideas for ways to enjoy myself that evening- on somewhat of a low key level... (i.e. any cool spots to head to to see them?- any top ways to participate in the festivities in style - high or low profile style?)
Thanks!
Didn't know if it was like a New Year's in Times Square kinda thing out there for you NY's... this will be my first summer there- finally.....

Cali-Lady looking for a Summer Sublet in NY!

Hi there,
Artist/writer/alternative healer & world traveller chick- currently residing back in the old hometown of L.A. is looking for a cool, clean, somewhat pleasant/decent and CHEAP summer sublet in NY.
Would ideally like to find something for two to three months, as close to the $4-500 range (though cheaper would be even better!) as I'm going to probably keep my place here too in the meantime...
What you may not be able to find or learn through my profile here on Tribe, I can fill in here: I'm CLEAN! (looking thus also for a clean place/space or roommates if this would be a share situation...) I'm open/friendly, responsible, courteous and conscientious, respectful and relatively quiet. (Also partial to the same qualities again, if the situation would be shared.)
Any decent if not great, clean/pleasant/harmonious place that I can call home for the summer months while in NY would be fantastic!
Look forward to hearing from you!!!!
And thanks for your help~
S.

Where's everyone from? Where does everyone live now? What local bar do you hang out in? What trains are you near? Let's get this Tribe moving.

I live in Park Slope. Prospect Ave between 8th and 9th. Actually, my block is the last block in Park Slope; across the street from us is Windsor Terrace. My stop is the 15th st. Prospect Park stop on the F. I don't really hang out any place specifically, but I've been to Bar 4 on 7th ave, The Gate on 5th ave (near RumbleSeat), South Paw, Loki, etc...anyone close to me, or at least know where I'm talking about? Gotta hit the Chip Shop for some fish and chips and Boddingtons. Or Guiness.

Hey do any of you guys have trouble with bugs, NOT ROACHES or ANTS........
I mean silverfish or "house" centipedes?
I live in an old house, very old actually, and I am on the verge of "losing it", bugs give me the creeps, and I am just crawling out of my skin here, b/c I have seen some awful creepy crawlies.....UUUUHGGG
UUUHHGGGGGGG

I know it's typical too to have "water bugs" here in NY, what's the best way to get rid of them, I was thinking of putting metal type fencing on my drains, so they can't get in......

UUUHHGGG

What happened!
I mean, there's not much discussion here. And there's got to be alot of people in tribe from Queens or Brooklyn.
By the way, Brooklyn and Long Island, never really been. Don't know of them(amazing right). Oh, I have really wanted to check out that train museum, I heard it's in Brooklyn. Has anyone been there? It fascinates me to see those old old pics of when they were really builing this great city. Like on the back of the metro cards they usually have those pics........Very cool.......

for a thursday night out call me at 718 249-7011.

F train to 15 st. Prospect Park: exit at the
Bartel Prichard side. walk up Prospect Park West
<not southwest> to 9 st.

R,M train to 9 st. walk up hill towards 9 Ave.
